Aluminium boat hulls with extensive experience

FSW friction welding as part of aluminium production

Alumech has manufactured demanding welded structures for many different industrial applications. The company has special expertise in the manufacture of aluminium boat hulls, gained over many years. In addition, Alumech has produced welded structures for the demanding process industry (stainless steel tanks) and technology industry (frame structures).

In welding production, we use various rotating welding jigs and auxiliary tools, which are applied for different purposes according to customer needs.

When welding aluminium and stainless steel, experience is part of an efficient and high-quality process. We design the jigs needed for welding separately according to the requirements of each piece.

Aluminium production is supported by the superior FSW friction welding method. The company has two FSW machines suitable for different sized pieces, from small pieces to large profile fields. The materials that can be welded using FSW are EN AW 5083 / EN AW 5754 sheet grades or 6000 series aluminium profiles. The recommended material thickness for friction welding is 2–30 mm, which ensures optimal seam quality and welding speed.

The optimal profile width for FSW welding is 250 mm. The profile can be up to 13 metres long and the plate fields can be 4 x 13 metres in size.
