Material properties remain unchanged – No melting, no weaknesses

As the temperature remains below the melting point, the microstructure of the material remains fine-grained. The strength of the joint is almost 90% of the base material, which is significantly higher than with conventional MIG/TIG welding.

Measurement accuracy without post-correction

Low heat input minimises thermal stresses and deformations (twisting). The customer benefits from ready-to-install components without costly and time-consuming straightening steps.

Flawless and tight seam

The process is fully automated and produces no pores, cracks or splashes. FSW is an excellent choice for aluminium pressure vessels, cooling plates and battery cases, where absolute tightness is required. Customers can optimise the weight, cooling properties and electrical conductivity of their products in ways that were not traditionally possible.

By connecting aluminium profiles and sheets to each other, even large sheet fields can be created. The optimal maximum width of the aluminium profile to be connected is 250 mm.
